Haul Out The Holly
I just dug out the vintage 1957 aluminum tree so that we can put it up next week during the holiday. I think these garlands on 5th Avenue are probably from the same era. They sure look retro.
Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer the old school crass plastic commercialism to the rustic, Martha Stewart style stuff that dominates the decoration aisles today. My biggest beef is the trend toward monochromatic or at least color coordinated lights and ornaments. When I was a kid, everything was a completely different size, shape and color. Some ornaments were satin, some glass, some plastic. My favorite ornaments were a set a brightly colored plastic musical instruments that had been coated in clear plastic "sugar" crystals. They looked like candy. I'd love to find some reproductions of those.
Anyhoo, I thought I would try out the 1960's cross processing effect in my new version of PaintShop Pro.
Enjoy.

So, do you have a colour wheel for your aluminum tree?
I do. Indeed I do.
And... nobody works in Texas during deer season.

OK, you've got me. What does deer season have to do with your workload?
And I'm with you on the decorations. I actually made myself & Mrs. Nator a little crazy a couple years ago raiding eBay for vintage 50s & 60s ornaments and lights like my family always had (and my mom still does). I like the big, colourful lights and lots of ornaments of different kinds, and I also like having some that my friends made during a holiday ornament-making party a few years back, that make me think of them.
I don't have a vintage 30s or 40s wax-headed angel like the family relic, though. I got this. Muahahahahaaa!
Sadly, due to crazy family and crazy cats, we've only had an actualy tree once in the last 5 years. Sigh.
So, do you have a colour wheel for your aluminum tree? Those are mad fresh, yo.
Welcome back!

glad to see you're back. We missed you. OTBKB
Thanks! It's good to be back for awhile. Hopefully my workload in Texas will lighten up now that it's deer season.
