Featured Flickr Fotos: Mermaid Parade!!!
The 24th Annual Mermaid Parade officially kicked of the summer season yesterday afternoon at magical, mysterious Coney Island. While the damp weather may have deterred some terrestrial spectators, the pulchritudinous piscine paraders were in their element.
Unfortunately, I missed this year's proceedings, but New York's talented brigade of photographers were out in force to document this year's extravaganza. They are burlesque artists...something tells me a trip to a burlesque show is in my future!
I wonder if they are Gotham Girls roller derby fans?

Hey...thanks for the post! I had a great time, ran into a bunch of people I knew...the parade is getting to be like homecoming.
That bottom photo is Kitastrophe, Beelzebabe, and Libertina...they always show up at the parade. I'd have to say they are my absolute faves.
