Thursday Invertebrate Blogging: AAAIIIEEEEE!!!!
A certain someone asked where this week's installment of Thursday Invertebrate Blogging was. Well my sweet, here it is. One of your favorite invertebrates. Make sure and click on the thumbnail to get a full sized glimpse of this beastie. I felt it graze my thumb as it crept away from my intrusive lens.
Brrrrrrrr.

I'm not an arachnologist, but after a brief review of what the "web" has to say, I'm guessing this is genus Araneus. Possibly Araneus diadematus.
Hellbent? Isn't this your area?

It was definitely an orb web, which I unfortunately damaged trying to snap a good picture. My Sony with the big lens is on the fritz, so I used my wife's cybershot. It has a much smaller lens that is very tricky to focus when using the macro setting. Basically, you have to focus on a stationary nearby object, fix the focus and then wait for the quarry to move into range (the web was blowing back and forth in the breeze). Do you have an ID on this guy? His body was slightly smaller than a dime, but he would have covered a quarter with his legs extended.

Lobbygow: nice pice.
What did the spider's web look like? Was it a big round orb web, or was it a small irregular web? And about how big was the spider?

Bleagh. That's pretty gross, gotta admit. When're you gonna post the restaurant review? That dinner last wk was mighty tasty...

That is disgusting. Utterly and completely disgusting. I am not clicking on it, and I am not looking at the blog until you post something else. And if you found it anywhere in the house or the backyard, I am never coming home.
